about me:
My name is Mr. Chad Uhiren (pronounced ‘you-hi-ren’) and I am entering my tenth year as the Criminal Justice teacher at Houston High School. I graduated in 2004 from Marion High School in Marion, Arkansas. I then attended the University of Memphis where I graduated Magna Cum Laude and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology & Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. I then went on to complete my Master of Arts degree in Criminology & Criminal Justice, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Local Government Management. Finally, I recently graduated with my Ed.S. in Educational Leadership (Principalship) from Arkansas State University.
Prior to coming to Houston, I worked as a Memphis Police Officer for approximately three years, and remain a Reserve Officer with the Department. I am also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Memphis, in the Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice, where I teach CJUS 1100 Introduction to Criminal Justice, CJUS 2226 Introduction to Policing and CJUS 4130 Ethical Dilemmas in Criminal Justice. Finally, I work at Bellevue Baptist Church as part of their security team.
I am happily married to my wonderful wife Crystal, who is the Instructional Technology Facilitator (ITF) at Arlington High School. Together, we have two children, our daughter, Olivia, who will be in fifth grade and our son, Reece, who will be in second grade. The most effective way to reach me is through e-mail. I will try to respond as soon as possible. Should you have questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me any time during the course of the year. I look forward to hearing from you and hope to have a fun, productive school year!
